About the Author

Vicki Goldberg is a leading voice in the field of photography criticism. Her book Photography in Print: Writings from 1816 to the Present was cited in the Wall Street Journal in 2006 as one of the five best books of all time on photography, and The Power of Photography: How Photographs Changed Our Lives and Margaret Bourke-White: A Biography were both named Best Book of the Year by the American Library Association. Vicki was a photography columnist for The New York Times for thirteen years, and she has written numerous articles for Vanity Fair, American Photographer, and other magazines.

Founded in 1961, The White House Historical Association is a charitable nonprofit institution whose purpose is to enhance the understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of the White House. The association has published and distributed more than 9 million books as well as produced documentary films and other educational materials, sponsors symposia, lectures, exhibits, and other outreach programs.
