Acquisition Announcement: AN UNLIKELY COVEN by AM Kvita

We’re thrilled to announce that Orbit has acquired An Unlikely Coven, the first in a debut contemporary fantasy trilogy by AM Kvita!

An Unlikely Coven follows Joan Greenwood, the outcast daughter of a family of powerful witches, as she returns home to New York City. Her return is lukewarm at best, but soon turns disastrous when news hits that someone has created a spell that can turn an unmagical human into a powerful witch, therefore threatening the balance of the magical world.

When Joan’s best friend confesses that he is hiding this human-turned-witch, the two are determined to undo the spell before it does permanent damage to its unwilling host, and set off on a dash across the city as they evade Joan’s family.

Publishing in Fall 2025 and featuring a lovable cast of queer, BIPOC characters, witty writing, and a sapphic slow-burn romance, An Unlikely Coven is perfect for fans of A Discovery of Witches, An Unkindness of Magicians, and The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches.
