Each month we ask our staff to share their latest reading recommendations and give us a peek into their reading habits by answering your favorite bookish questions. In March, we hear from Alana Bonfiglio, Marketing Assistant, Workman Publishing. Read ahead for Alana’s trusted reading recommendations, her go-to comfort read and more.

Love & Other Disasters by Anita Kelly

Anita Kelly creates the most fun worlds full of such important representation that’s often missing from the romance genre. I’ll read anything they write!

So Sad Today by Melissa Broder

I love essays and I love funny, slightly unhinged women. So Sad Today offers such powerful insights on so many aspects of modern life – it’s an all-time favorite.

The Food of Sicily by Fabrizia Lanza

My family is Sicilian, so I’m definitely biased, but I think Sicily has the best cuisine in the world! I love how this cookbook not only shares incredibly recipes, but also sheds light on the land, people, and history of the island. I’m obsessed with everything about the author Fabrizia and her cooking school in Sicily. It was a dream to work on the marketing campaign for this one.

What is the weirdest thing you have used as a bookmark?

I use random receipts a lot. I also am an occasional dog-earer, I’m so sorry. (Only with books that I own I promise!)

If you owned a bookstore, what would you call it?

Maybe A Thousand Lives Bookshop, based on the George R.R. Martin quote “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies”

What book(s) are at the top of your TBR right now?

A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams

A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams. I loved Tia’s last book, Seven Days in June, so I can’t wait to start this one.

What is your favorite book cover from the past year and why?

Fly by Mitchell S. Jackson

I love the cover of Fly by Mitchell S. Jackson. It’s so attention-grabbing, and there’s something new to notice every time you look at it. It’s also made of such a unique material – highly recommend picking a copy up.
