SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Jackal

By Don Mann (Hardcover Book, 2014)
Real-life SEAL Don Mann brings all of his insight and experience to the next installment of the SEAL Team Six series.

When a senator's wife and teenage daughter are kidnapped, Thomas Crocker and SEAL Team Six are sent to Mexico's lawless countryside, where federal agents protect instead of hunting down violent narcotics kingpins. The two women have been kidnapped by the Jackal, a drug lord drunk on power and influence. He also happens to be a self-styled modern Che Guevara, who has undergone plastic surgery to disguise his looks and justifies his brutal methods and Machiavellian drug empire with the politics of social revolution. The Jackal is as ruthless as he is colorful, and he must be stopped.

Crocker and the SEALs have only a matter of hours to track down and rescue the two innocent civilians held at the mercy of this madman. With dirty cops, dangerous cartels, lavish tropical estates, double-crosses and plenty of bullets, Hunt the Jackal places the team in perilous new territory and demonstrates how elite warriors can adapt to and fight in any situation.

With insight into sensitive intelligence so top-secret it can only be hinted at in fiction, Mann and Pezzullo's extensive knowledge has for several books offered a look behind the curtain at the life-or-death, black-ops missions executed by only a handful of the bravest soldiers. Now, with Hunt the Jackal, the authors focus their lens even closer to home upon the dangers that lurk just across the U.S. border in a pulse-pounding thriller that ups the ante even as it sheds light on the real-life heroes and villains of the fight against narco-terrorism.

Don Mann (CWO3, USN) is the author of the national bestseller Inside SEAL Team Six and the SEAL Team Six series of thrillers and has for the last thirty years been associated with the Navy SEALS as a platoon member, assault team member, boat crew leader, advanced training officer, and more recently, program director preparing civilians to go to BUD/s (SEAL Training). Up until 1998 he was on active duty with SEAL Team 6. Since his retirement, he has deployed to the Middle East on numerous occasions in support of the war on terror. Many of the active duty members of SEAL Team 6 are the same guys he taught how to shoot and conduct ship and aircraft takedowns, and trained in urban, arctic, desert, river, and jungle warfare, as well as Close Quarters Battle and Military Operations in Urban Terrain. He has suffered two broken backs, two pulmonary embolisms, and multiple other broken bones in training or service. He has twice survived being captured during operations.

Co-writer Ralph Pezzullo is a New York Times bestselling author and award-winning playwright, screenwriter and journalist. His books include Jawbreaker (with CIA operative Gary Berntsen).
  • "Exciting...Crocker and his men go about their dangerous mission, which involves a boatload of Special Forces military action." (Publishers Weekly).

  • "Pulse-pounding reads filled with the kind of knowing, immersive detail that can only come from someone with real-life experience in the field. A great series." ( New York Times best-selling author of SEAL Team Six: Memoirs of an Elite Navy SEAL Sniper ).

  • "An amazing, timely, and very accurate thriller. Mann and Pezzullo's depiction of today's world of transnational crime and U.S. clandestine operations is frightening, balanced, and on the mark. I literally couldn't put it down." (Assistant Director of Law Enforcement, InterPort Police).

  • "A riveting and accurate description of how special operations units actually conduct counterterrorist operations in the field. . . .  If you are interested in reading a suspenseful, action-filled novel written by the 'real deal' instead of some amateur wanna-be, pick up this book, or any of those in the SEAL Team Six series." (former supervisor at the Central Intelligence Agency).

  • "The SEAL Team Six series by my teammate Don Mann are a must read by anyone who enjoys real deal elite special ops thrillers. Don's insights, tactical know-how and technical expertise, drawn from his many years as a SEAL 6 and 'OGA' operator in murky corners of the globe, are unparalleled." ( author of The Way of the SEAL, Unbeatable Mind and 8 Weeks to SEALFIT ).

  • "Don Mann's Navy SEAL novels are etched with his personal experiences combined with an exciting fictional tale that could actually happen. I felt the adrenaline pumping." (former Navy SEAL and author of The Complete Guide to Navy SEAL Fitness).

  • "Hunt The Wolf was a rocket fast read, and is true to its promise of entertaining the readers of Vince Flynn and Brad Thor. By the end, I wanted more, more guns, more explosions, and more dead terrorists. I want more and so will you." (C.J. Edwards, Grift Magazine ).

  • "Mann's sparse prose keeps the story crackling and he imbues the novel with authenticity thanks to his thirty years of service. His is a new voice in the genre that I'm sure we'll hear from again." (David Ingram, Suspense Magazine ).

  • "A steady stream of action makes this a worthy entry into the burgeoning SEAL thriller genre."
